natural sleep cycles

Thus far I've had great sleeping habits. I haven't used an alarm clock in years, although I'll use one when I'm not at home, or turn it on for important days because I feel like my mental clock will suddenly fail me. Starting tomorrow, I will shift into to a polyphasic sleep cycle. What this means is I'm going to divide the sleep I get into 2 or more sleep sessions.

It's entirely unnatural to only sleep once a day. It's because of our culture that we swtich to a monophasic cycle from being kids to growing up. A quick search on sleep on del.icio.us reveals some interesting reads on sleep patterns and habits.
